In an untoward incident, a student from DY Patil College, Lohegoan was found missing near Dabade Lake, Talegaon on 23 May 2024. Diving assistance was sought by the district administration from INS Shivaji, Lonavala to locate the missing student. A diving team of Indian Navy along with necessary equipment and inflatable craft were immediately deployed to the site of incident, about 40 kms away from Lonavala.
Based on the inputs from locals and district administration, the search operation by Naval divers was undertaken. Spot diving was undertaken at various locations and search operation was continued with inflatable craft. With continued efforts, the body of missing student was recovered and handed over to the local authorities on 24 May 2024.
