On the occasion of 78th Independence Day, Vice Admiral V Srinivas, FOCINC SNC laid wreath and paid homage at SNC War Memorial in honour of all bravehearts who have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. FOCINC (South) reviewed the Ceremonial Parade commanded by Commander Ashutosh Kukreti. On this occasion, the President's Colour awarded to the Southern Naval Command was also paraded. Addressing the parade, Vice Admiral V Srinivas extended his greetings to all SNC personnel and their families on the 78th Independence Day. He highlighted the journey of freedom and the remarkable progress made on multiple fields overcoming challenges post-independence. He reminded the contribution of Indian Navy in the global effort to protect and safeguard the shipping lanes in the Western Indian Ocean spearheading Government of India's strategic vision of SAGAR. He reiterated on training to be the important cog in achieving a combat ready, credible, cohesive and future ready force. He also urged personnel to imbibe safety culture as a key enabler of operations. He emphasised the Indian Navy's commitment towards 'Nation First' outlook in achieving the vision of self sufficiency and Aatmanir bharta. He recounted the assistance provided by Southern Naval Command to the civil administration of Kerala during the recent Wayanad landslide and various medical evacuations undertaken at Lakshadweep Island reaffirming commitment towards continued support and humanitarian assistance. He urged all to rededicate themselves to the security, progress and prosperity of the nation while working towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The FOCINC, South congratulated the personnel of Southern Naval Command who were awarded gallantry awards and commendations on the occasion. All Naval ships were 'dressed overall' with signal flags to mark the occasion. Various units at Southern Naval Command proudly flew the National Flag in residential areas and offices as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
