The fifth edition of the Kochi Navy Marathon-24 was conducted by Southern Naval Command on 15 Dec 24. Under the vibrant skies at Sagarika International Cruise Terminal, Willingdon Island, the Marathon unfolded with the resounding footsteps of more than 5000 participants from defence as well as fitness enthusiasts of Kerala showcasing an inspiring amalgamation of unity and endurance.

The marathon featured three challenging categories: the grueling 21km Venduruthy Run, the competitive 10km Dronacharya Run and the inclusive 5km Garuda Run. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation from children, youth, senior citizens, spiced runners, Naval personnel and their families in various race categories. The participants had an enriching experience as they received a race T shirt and race category finisher's medal at the end of race. In addition to abundant hydration and nutrition points, various convenience and medical stations were positioned at the vantage points along the route. The proactive support of the sponsors and partners made the event a huge success.

Vice Admiral V Srinivas FOCINC SNC, RAdm Upal Kundu, COS and RAdm Satish Shenai CSO (Training) flagged off the 5K, 10K and 21K runs respectively . During the award ceremony, a total of 12 awards were presented to following outstanding individuals who demonstrated exemplary performance across the race categories:-

2nd - Collins Kipkrui Sang (Senegal)

3rd - Gilbert Kipkosgei (Senegal)
 

(b) 21 km (Female)

1st - Somya, AVR (Indian Navy)

2nd - Bismy Augustine

3rd - Rema AK

 

(c) 10 km (Open)

1st - Ajith K

2nd - Hemanth Kumar, AA5 (Indian Navy)

3rd - Subhashis Manna, NK (Indian Army)

 

(d) 10 km (Female)

1st - Jincy G

2nd - Femine Treesa

3rd - SLt Anouska Yadav (Indian Navy)

Southern Naval Command widely acknowledges the support of the city and people of Kochi, the district administration, police authorities, medical assistance, volunteers, esteemed guests and sponsors for the successful conduct of the event. The Kochi Navy Marathon 24 stands as a testament to the commitment of participants and partners making the event a celebration of perseverance and community spirit.
