Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, CNS interacted with Commander JP Singh (Retd), Chief Pilot of Samudrayaan, at Naval Headquarters NHQ New Delhi on 08 September 2025.

Samudrayaan, launched by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, under the Deep Ocean Mission (DOM), and led by Moes Niot, is India’s first human submersible mission. It aims to send a three-member crew in the indigenous MATSYA 6000 submersible to a depth of 6,000 metres, placing India among a select group of nations with this capability.

CNS was briefed on the mission’s progress, trials, safety protocols, and the role of the Chief Pilot.

Appreciating NIOT’s pioneering efforts, and the contribution of Commander JP Singh, CNS described Samudrayaan as a "pathbreaking initiative that reflects India’s quest to explore uncharted ocean frontiers and a tribute to the indomitable spirit of our scientists, engineers and seafarers”

He reaffirmed Indian Navy’s support for the mission, recognising its significance towards deep sea exploration, harnessing Ocean resources and driving innovation in underwater engineering.
