A two-day seminar on the theme "Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance LRMR Platforms: Strengthening Indian Maritime Prowess in an Expanding Area of Responsibility" was conducted at INS Rajali, Arakkonam from 16 to 17 September 2025 under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command.
The seminar graced by Rear Admiral Shantanu Jha, CSO (Ops) ENC as Chief Guest witnessed participation of senior naval dignitaries, specialist officers and domain experts including representatives from Boeing Ltd. On this occasion, a compendium of articles was released, capturing insights on maritime surveillance and the evolving role of Long-Range Maritime Reconnaissance platforms like the P8I and HALE Remotely Piloted Aircraft in safeguarding India's maritime interests in the IOR and beyond.
The event commemorated 50,000 hours of flying by INAS312 on the P8I aircraft, a landmark achievement and the first of its kind in the history of Indian Naval Aviation. INAS 312, the premier LRMR Squadron, operates the State-of-the-Art P8I aircraft from INS Rajali and has been at the forefront in maintaining a sharp vigil over the vital Areas of Interest in the maritime domain. INS Rajali, located on the Eastern Seaboard also operates MQ-9B Sea Guardian, making it an epicentre for long-range maritime reconnaissance, anti-submarine warfare and surveillance across multiple domains.
