Commodore Kartik Murthy took over Command of INS Circars - the base depot ship of the Eastern Naval Command from Commodore Happy Mohan, on 22 December 2025.
Commodore Kartik Murthy was commissioned in Indian Navy on 01 January 1998. A Gunnery and Missile Specialist. He has commanded Indian Naval ships T80, Vipul, Kuthar and Satpura. He has held various staff and instructional appointments ashore, including tenures at Naval headquarters. He has also served as the Defence Attache at the Embassy of India in Jakarta Indonesia.
Commodore Kartik Murthy is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy Indonesian Naval Staff and Command College, Naval War College, Goa and the National Defence College New Delhi. The Officer was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2023.
