The 38th Hyderabad Sailing Week culminated on 07 July 2024 with spectacular performance of Indian Navy Sailing Team based at INWTC Mumbai. The team coached by Lieutenant Commander Praveen Prabhakar and Ajay Rajput, LCOM (TEL) won the following medals:-
Gold – ILCA 6 (women) – Ritika Dangi, CPO
Gold – 470 (mix) – Shraddha Verma, PO and RK Sharma, CPO(US)
Silver – 470 (mix) – Uma Chauhan, PO and S Shekhar, POEL(R)
Bronze – ILCA 7 (men) – DK Saini, PO (RP)
Besides winning medal in her Laser class, Ritika Dangi, CPO from Indian Navy showcased indomitable skills and exemplified Narishakti by winning gold medal in the ILCA 6 (Open) category also, where 38 men and women competed together in physically and mentally exhausting battle on the race course. The week-long national ranking event which started on 03 July 2024 at Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad was conducted by the EME Sailing Association under the aegis of Yachting association of India YAI. The sailing week saw participation of 90 sailors from nine sailing clubs across the country. This year, the event featured races in 470 (mix) and various ILCA classes of boats. Indian Navy Sailing Association’s INSA sailing teams from Indian Naval Watermanship Training Center, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam and Indian Naval Academy INA Ezhimala participated in the event.
