Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, CNS, launched the Tri-Service National Cancer Registry for Indian Armed Forces on 09 January 2025. Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, DGAFMS, convened the e-inauguration of AFMS Cancer Registry which heralds an era of quality data collection & collation from the three services, aiming to monitor cancer trends, identify high-risk populations, drive preventive strategies, guide treatment, surveillance, and research ensuring improvements in patient care and outcomes for Armed Forces personnel, their dependents, and Veterans. An initiative which has fructified in collaboration with ICMR-NCDIR, the Registry will be simultaneously coordinated between seven identified Armed Forces Hospitals. CNS lauded the initiative & wished a healthier future for Armed Forces personnel. This milestone event witnessed a talk by Dr Prashant Mathur, Director ICMR-NCDIR who was instrumental in assisting the establishment of such a niche database. The inauguration was attended by DGMS Indian Army, Indian Navy & Indian Air Force, Commandants AFMC, Pune & Army Hospital(R&R), JS (Med), & Commandants of all nodal Tri-service hospitals.
