The indigenously designed and constructed Submarine Escape Training Tower SETT was commissioned by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, FOCINC, ENC at INS Satavahana on 13 September 2024. The Escape Training Tower is a state-of-the-art training facility established for training Indian Naval Submariners in undertaking escape from a sunken submarine akin to an actual scenario. The facility ensures safety at depth during all stages of operation whilst training the “men of steel” to overcome their instinct fear and act confidently in a methodical and unanimous manner in case of an actual requirement of escape. The project was conceptualized and executed by Directorate of Submarine Acquisition.
