Vice Admiral Rajat Kapoor
Vice Admiral Rajat Kapoor was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jan 1991.
The Flag Officer has held various challenging appointments in Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Administration during his career spanning over 34 years. The Flag Officer joined the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy, wherein he served onboard INS Shakti and INS Deepak for Watchkeeping duties. Thereafter, the Flag Officer changed over to Logistics Cadre and served afloat as Logistics Officer onboard INS Rana, INS Magar and as commissioning crew of INS Jalashwa. During the initial years of his service, he has done stints at Base Victualling Yard, Mumbai and as Assistant Controller of Material Planning at Material Organisation (Visakhapatnam).
The Flag Officer has the rare distinction of being the Command Logistics Officer of two Commands - the Andaman & Nicobar Command and the Western Naval Command. He has also served as Staff Officer to FOCEF with three Fleet Commanders. Other key appointments tenanted by him include Cmde (Administration) at Naval Headquarters and Material Superintendent of Material Organisation (Mumbai).
He was promoted to the Flag Rank of Rear Admiral on 01 Apr 23, upon which, he took over the appointment of Chief Staff Officer (Personnel & Administration), Western Naval Command. He was appointed as Assistant Controller of Logistics at Naval Headquarters in Jun 24. On promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral on 01 Feb 25, he has taken over as the Controller of Logistics of the Indian Navy.
The Flag Officer is a graduate of 60th Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and has undergone the 26th Naval Higher Command Course at Naval War College, Goa. The Admiral is also an alumnus of 60th Course of the prestigious National Defence College, New Delhi.
The Flag Officer's hobbies include swimming and cycling. He is also the recipient of commendation by Chief of the Naval Staff - twice in 2009 and 2015.
He is married to Mrs Mini Kapoor. Their son, Lt Cdr Arjun Kapoor is a serving naval officer in the Indian Navy and their daughter, Ms Chhavi Kapoor is a graduate from St. Xaviers Mumbai and is presently working at Bain Capability Network, Gurugram.
