Mountaineering Expedition to Mount Nanda Ghunti (6309 m/ 20,600 ft), Uttarakhand was flagged off by Commanding Officer, INS Valsura on 28 September 2024. The team comprising of one officer, seven sailors and two defence civilians would scale the summit and unfurl the Tricolour and Naval Ensign. The expedition embodies the adventure spirit of Indian Navy fostering the spirit of adventure, physical fitness, mental strength and esprit-de-corps. The team will reach Dehradun on 30 September 2024 for a two-day orientation programme prior to commencement of the expedition. Trekking via Sutol (7,875 ft) and Lata Khopri (9,679 ft), the team will arrive at the Initial Base Camp (13,450 ft), on 06 October 2024. The climb to Base Camp 1, 2 and 3 will commence on 07 October 2024 and the final summit climb will be attempted on 14/ 15 October 2024.
