In a swift medical evacuation, an Indian Navy Dornier from INS Garuda, Kochi, evacuated a patient from Agatti Island (Lakshadweep) on the intervening night of 14 & 15 Dec 24. A request for urgent medical evacuation of a 61 yr old critically ill patient was received from the Lakshadweep Administration by Southern Naval Command. The Naval Dornier was promptly launched and dispatched to Agatti Island which is approx 250 nautical miles away from Kochi at short notice in challenging weather conditions. The patient was airlifted and shifted to a civil hospital in Kochi, at 0330 h for further treatment. The successful night evacuation from Lakshadweep Islands reaffirms the Navy's operational readiness and commitment towards crisis response and humanitarian assistance - Anytime, Anywhere.
