Rear Admiral Biplab Hota assumed charge as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Air) at Naval Headquarters on 20 January 2026. The Flag officer is a qualified Test Pilot and has held key appointments in India and abroad in a career spanning over 32 years. He has flown 24 different types of aircraft and was a part of team overseeing induction of MiG-29K into the Indian Navy. He is the only naval fighter pilot to be fully operational on three aircraft carriers. He has served onboard Indian Naval Ships Tir, Viraat, Magar, erstwhile Himgiri, Ghorpad and commanded INS Savitri, INS Teg, INAS303 and naval air station Hansa. His staff appointments include Cmde (ATCT) at HQNA and Cmde (Avn) at HQWNC. On promotion to Flag rank on 01 July 2024, he was appointed as Chief of Staff at HQANC, prior taking over the present appointment. The Admiral is a recipient of Vishist Seva Medal.
