Coastal Security awareness campaign aimed at bringing awareness among coastal populace was organised by NOIC Kerala at Mopla Bay, Kannur on 19 January 2023. A team of one officer and three sailors interacted with local fishing community and conducted outreach program in coordination with Dept of Fisheries and Coastal Police, Govt of Kerala. As part of campaign various facets of coastal security including likely threats from sea and role of fishermen as 'Eyes and Ears' of security agencies as an integral part of coastal security construct were covered. The interaction also conveyed key aspects of safety precautions at sea and SAR organisation. Active participation by fishermen during interaction was indicative of enthusiasm and involvement amongst coastal populace. The interaction was received well by audience and efforts of SNC was appreciated by all stakeholders.
