INS Tir, an indigenously built cadet training ship based at SNC, Kochi, celebrated her 37th anniversary on 21 February 2023. Built by MDL, ship has rendered yeoman service in training more than 4000 officer trainees of Indian Navy and Friendly Foreign Countries. INS Tir joined First Training Squadron on 01 April 1986. Towards enhancing maritime diplomacy and long range training deployment, ship has traversed more than 6,00,000 nm and visited over 25 foreign countries. As a part of 37th anniversary activities, a walkathon cum coastal cleanup drive was undertaken by ship at Fort Kochi beach on 19 February 2023. An outreach programme was also organised at Crescent Girls Home, Fort Kochi on 20 February 2023, wherein assistance in terms of provision and utility items were provided to inmates.
