INS Sukanya visited Colombo, Sri Lanka from 27 Feburary to 01 March 2023. During her stay at Colombo, the ship participated in a variety of activities with Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), which included professional and social interactions, cross deck visits, yoga sessions and HADR training. A familiarisation tour of ship was also conducted for personnel of Sri Lanka Navy and ship was open for visitors. On departure from Colombo, on 01 March 2023, INS Sukanya undertook a Passage Exercise PASSEX with SLNSGajabahu. The exercise included seamanship evolutions, tactical manoeuvres and communication procedure exercises. INS Sukanya’s visit to Sri Lanka signifies strong navy-to-navy links and interoperability between Indian Navy and Sri Lanka Navy (SLN). Earlier this year, India’s first indigenously built destroyer, INS Delhi had also visited Trincomalee, Sri Lanka from 15 – 17 January 2023. The ship is deployed for multiple roles independently and in support of fleet operations.
