Surgeon Rear Admiral Vivek Hande, took over as Commanding Officer, INHS Asvini on elevation to Flag Rank on 16 March 2023. He is an alumnus of Armed Forces Medical College AFMC and National Defence College. He is the senior-most Gastroenterologist and Physician in Indian Navy and has vast clinical and administrative experience in a career spanning three and a half decades.
