A batch of four Indian Navy officers successfully completed Advanced Oceanography Course on 24 March 2023. Commodoe SM Urooj Athar, Director, NODPAC was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function and awarded trophies and certificates to the passing out officers. The 24 weeks Course was covered in two phases. Phase one of the course was conducted at INCOIS, Hyderabad, wherein training on theoretical and operational aspects of Oceanography was conducted by eminent scientists. Phase two of the course was conducted at SNOM, Kochi. During this phase, practical orientation in the field of Oceanography and training visits to scientific oceanographic organisations and attachments to various Naval training schools were undertaken. Additionally, the trainee officers were also exposed to handling of large oceanographic datasets, remote sensing and scientific analysis.
