Shri Giridhar Aramane, Defence Secretary, in presence of VAdm Biswajit Dasgupta, CINC, ENC and VAdm Sanjay Jasjit Singh VCNS, inaugurated the state-of-the-art P8I simulator named ‘Ashok Roy Training Simulator Complex’ ARTSC at INS Rajali, Arakkonam. Also present were RAdm Surendra Ahuja (Retd), Managing Director, Boeing Defence India and family members of Lieutenant Commander Ashok Roy, VrC, NM. Shri Giridhar Aramane also flew a simulated sortie in Flight Team Training Device FTTD and Mission Training Module MTM, post the inauguration. The ARTSC will allow compressed timelines for crew training resulting in higher availability of aircraft for Operational missions. The facility will not only allow aircrew to hone their skills for operational missions under complex scenarios but also provide them with requisite training to operate one of the most advanced aircraft – the P8I. The training simulator complex has been dedicated to Lieutenant Commander Ashok Roy, VrC, NM to commemorate his distinguished service and gallant action during the 1971 Indo Pak war. The Defence Secretary also undertook a sortie onboard the P8I aircraft and witnessed the combat capability of the aircraft under various scenarios in the maritime domain.
