As part of World Health Day 2023 celebrations and to commemorate the International Year of Millets, a health symposium was organized by the DGMS (Navy) in association with the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association at Varunika, New Delhi on 27 Apr 2023.
An introductory talk on millets was delivered by Dr A Ashok Kumar , Principal Scientist, ICRISAT, Hyderabad. It was followed by a quiz on millets wherein millet based cookies were distributed as prizes. Subsequently, a panel discussion on usage of millets to promote health was conducted by experts on the subject, which generated much discussion among the audience and helped in creating awareness about the topic . Audience were also given eco friendly packets with millet based food items and a brochure highlighting the health benefits of millets.
