VAdm Biswajit Dasgupta, FOCINC ENC on a visit to Tuticorin today interacted with Shri TK Ramachandran, Chairman VOC Port and port management team. CINC, accompanied by CSO(Ops) and FOTNA were conducted around Port premises including "Information Centre" which showcases history of port as well as that of Shri Valliyappan Olanganathan Chidambaranar (VOC) Pillai in whose honour Tuticorin port has been named. CINC was also briefed on substantial progress achieved over years by port, ongoing efforts and green initiatives as well as planned infrastructure expansion program, especially the proposed construction of outer harbour and navigable use of Pamban Channel. CINC complemented the management for their vision and contribution towards ensuring rapid and steady growth of the VOC Port. He also evinced interest in future developments being progressed by port authorities and highlighted strategic role they could play for Indian Navy through planned dual use of infrastructure.
