Shri. SBS Raju Foreman(Gz) of ND Visakhapatnam inaugurated newly constructed Dockyard Apprentices Hostel building in presence of Adm R Hari Kumar, CNS at Dockyard Apprentice School Visakhapatnam on 31 May 2023. This will provide a major boost to training facilities for young Apprentices under Skill India initiative of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The newly constructed building will provide modern amenities and good quality accommodation to more than 200 Apprentices, both girls and boys, from various parts of country, many of whom will join defence civilians workforce of Naval Dockyards to maintain machinery and weapon systems of ships and submarines in years to come. The hostel building consists of 25 dormitories, dining hall, ante room and visitors lounge for interaction with parents/ guests and has been constructed adhering to environment friendly best practices. About 275 youth are provided theoretical and practical training annually, which is conducted at various workshops, as well as, onboard warships, to give them an all round exposure on maintenance of complex ship’s systems.
