Adm R Hari Kumar, CNS accompanied by Mrs Kala Hari Kumar President NWWA undertook a three day visit to ENC Visakhapatnam from 30 May to 01 Jun 2023. During his visit, CNS presented gallantry awards and distinguished service medals to Naval recipients on behalf of President of India. CNS also interacted with VAdm Biswajit Dasgupta, FOCINC ENC and was given a comprehensive briefing on various operational, technical and administrative activities/ initiatives of Command and an overview of ongoing projects being progressed in Area of Responsibility of ENC.
CNS visited Sea Harrier Museum, which was recently dedicated to city by Hon'ble CM of Andhra Pradesh. Having served as Commanding Officer of INS Viraat in 2010 when Sea Harriers operated from aircraft carrier, CNS commended efforts of VMRDA in establishing world's only Sea Harrier museum. This adds to city's unique collection of naval museums, which includes Kursura Submarine Museum and TU142 Aircraft Museum.
CNS also inaugurated newly constructed Hostel at Dockyard Apprentice School. This facility will significantly enhance training infrastructure available for young apprentices, aligning with Skill India initiative of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. He also visited some operational units and several recently commissioned naval facilities, including State-of-the-Art Submarine Damage Control and Fire Fighting Training Facility named Rakshak. As part of social interaction, CNS and Mrs Kala Hari Kumar interacted with recipients of gallantry awards and distinguished service medals, their family members and members of naval fraternity along with their spouses.
