INS Shivaji, Indian Navy’s premier marine engineering training institute at Lonavala, marked World Environment Day23 under the theme Beat Plastic Pollution. The Naval unit undertook various activities including cleanliness drive, tree plantation drive, online lecture for students of KV and painting competition for station children to create awareness about environment. Service personnel and their families planted over 500 saplings on vast campus of INS Shivaji located amid Sahyadris in Lonavala in Pune district. The unit also carried out cleanship drive inside base and at various locations in Nausena Baug, Bushi Dam and Tata Dam. Approx 1350 kg of plastic waste was collected during this drive and disposed off.
