As an initiative towards World Environment Day 2023, INS Chilka, Indian Navy’s premier training establishment for Agniveers celebrated the day with aim to theme Beat Plastic Pollution and adoption of Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle in daily life. The unit undertook various activities like cleanliness drive, tree plantation drive, save energy campaign, waste management seminar for students of KV, quiz competition for local people at Chilka Wetland Centre, mangrove afforestation drive at Bhitarkanika, Odisha and slogan and painting competition for children. Service personnel and their families planted over 1000 trees including 200 mangrove trees. 420kg of waste including 50kg e-waste was collected in this drive.
