A coastal security awareness campaign was conducted by a team of NOIC, Kerala at Vizhinjam fishing harbour in Thiruvanthapuram district on 06 Jun 2023. The campaign is part of Indian Navy's initiative to promote awareness on various facets of coastal security and instil a sense of pride amongst fishing populace. The campaign was undertaken in coordination with Dept of Fisheries, Kadalora Jagrata Samiti and Coastal Police, Govt of Kerala. During interaction, fishermen were briefed regarding their vital role as 'eyes and ears' of security agencies. Key aspect of safety precautions at sea including SAR organisation were also covered. Active participation by fishing community was indicative of enthusiasm and involvement amongst coastal populace. The interaction was well received by audience and efforts of SNC were acknowledged.
