INS Trishul at Durban

Personnel from INS Trishul attended Gandhi MandelaKing (GMK) Conference followed by a Gala dinner. The conference highlighted principles and ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Nelson Mandela and Mr Martin Luther King and their relevance in contemporary world. 150 personnel from ship participated in a walkathon, organised by Consulate General of India (CGI) in collaboration with ‘Comrades Runners’ – a Runners group from Indian diaspora, at Golden Mile Beach, Durban. Ships staff along with Indian Navy Band participated in a cultural event, organised by CGI in collaboration with Swami Vivekananda Culture Centre at Pheonix Youth Centre, Durban. Dr Thelma David, CGI in her address acknowledged IN’s role in building Bridges of Friendship. Ms Banu Prakash, Deputy High Commissioner of India also addressed the gathering and brought out how Indian mission was furthering UN recognized International Year of Millets by introducing affordable and nutritious Indian millets to SouthAfrica.
