Indian Navy positioning of first artefact at National Maritime Heritage Complex, Lothal - Sea Harrier 609

The White Tiger has landed! Indian Navy is proud to announce positioning of first artefact at National Maritime Heritage Complex, Lothal – Sea Harrier 609. Sea Harrier aircraft, aka White Tiger, was a vertical/short take-off and landing fighter jet that Indian Navy operated for 33 long years. They dominated skies over Indian Ocean whilst operating for Indian Aircraft Carriers INS Vikrant and INS Viraat. Sea Harriers played a stellar role in Operation Vijay during Kargil War in 1999 and also operated on INS Viraat during Operation Parakram in 2002, thereby providing essential offensive posture to the nation. These intrepid fighters were de-inducted from Indian Navy in 2016. SH609 is the first of over 300 Indian Navy artefacts planned for installation at NMHC, Lothal, to inspire visitors with the amazing story of growth of their Navy.
