The annual Western Fleet Awards Function-23, to acknowledge achievements of Sword Arm, was held on 15 Jul 2023 at Mumbai. VAdm Dinesh K Tripathi, FOCINC WNC was chief guest for the function. 21 trophies covering various dimensions of maritime operations were awarded. INS Kochi was awarded ‘Best Ship’ , INS Tarkash the ‘Most Spirited Ship' and INS Deepak was awarded ‘Best Ship’ trophy amongst Tankers and OPVs. In his address, CINC stressed the need to be combat ready always and to adapt to rapidly changing flux of tactics technology and geopolitics for a future proof Navy. In addition, he emphasised importance of critical and innovative thinking to gain advantage over adversary in maritime domain. CINC complemented Western Fleet for tasks and missions undertaken across spectrum of naval operations. He reiterated Navy’s commitment to ships first and outlined measures taken by WNC to support personnel at sea. He thanked spouses and families of western fleet for being the wind behind the sails of deployed personnel.
