JMSDF ship JS Makinami, a Takanami class destroyer made port call at Kochi from 11-13 Jul 2023. The ship was accorded a warm reception with fanfare by SNC band. Captain Fujii Kenichi, Commander Escort Division (CED 7) and Commander Nose Koji, Commanding officer JS Makinami along with Captain Hiroyuki Kosuga, NA, Embassy of Japan in India called on Cmde Sritanu Guru, Commodore Training, SNC and discussed subjects of maritime interest. During the port call, professional interactions, cross deck visits and friendly volleyball matches were conducted. The visit of Japanese Naval Ship has contributed towards strengthening bilateral defence ties and bridges of friendship.
