VAdm Dinesh Prabhakar (Retd) took over as Distinguished Chair Marine Engineering at INS Shivaji, Lonavala on 13 Jul 2023. An alumnus of Sainik School Rewa, NDA and Naval College of Engineering, he is a doyen in field of nuclear submarine construction and holds post of ATVP Chair. He took over as the third Distinguished Chair (Marine Engineering) succeeding VAdm SKK Krishnan (Retd). As part of succession ceremony, he reviewed various initiatives and progress made by Centre of Excellence (Marine Engineering) at INS Shivaji. Further, he addressed officers and motivated them to keep abreast of technology and work hard towards nation building. Distinguished Chair (Marine Engineering) is an honorary appointment to provide guidance and technical insight on various aspects of role, functioning and growth in field of marine engineering whilst giving impetus on quality research and guided mentorship. Distinguished Chair is also responsible to guide organisation in developing critical thinking, analytical ability, strategic vision and proficiency in marine engineering.
