On the occasion of 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26 July 2023, a solemn wreath laying ceremony was conducted at Shaheed Smarak at Colaba, Mumbai to commemorate victory of Indian Armed Forces and to pay tribute to supreme sacrifice of our martyrs. During ceremony, wreaths were laid by Lieutenant General HK Kahlon, GOC Maharashtra Gujarat and Goa Area followed by VAdm Sanjay Bhalla, COS WNC , RAdm AN Pramod, Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area and Air Vice Marshal Rajat Mohan VM, Air Officer Commanding, Headquarters Maritime Air Operations, Veterans and other Senior officers from all three services. Kargil Vijay Diwas is commemorated on 26 July every year as a saga of gallantry and valour of a battle fought in most inhospitable terrain in World in area of Kargil-Drass Sector of Ladakh. On this day, Indian Armed Force braving most difficult terrain, battling extreme weather conditions fought valiantly on steep slopes of icy peaks with grit and valour thus defeating evil designs of the enemy and throwing the intruders out from Indian Soil. The Kargil War – Operation Vijay was fought at an altitude of approximately 16,000 feet. The ceremony was attended by number of serving personnel from all three services and veterans.
