Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena takes over as Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command

VAdm Sameer Saxena took over as COS ENC from VAdm Sanjay Vatsayan at Visakhapatnam on 01 Aug 2023. VAdm Sameer Saxena is an alumnus of NDA, DSSC, Wellington and NWC Newport, USA. Having excelled as a Navigation and Direction specialist with top honours, he served in Direction team onboard INS Viraat, followed by significant roles as Navigating Officer of INS Kuthar, INS Godavari, INS Delhi and as Executive Officer of INS Mumbai. He commanded Mauritian Coast Guard Ship Guardian, INS Kulish and INS Mysore. He also served as Fleet Operations Officer, Western Fleet. He has been PDFC at IHQ MOD(N) and Naval Adviser at High Commission of India, London. On promotion to the Flag rank, he took over as ACNS (PandP) at IHQ MOD(Navy) and then commanded Western Fleet. Prior to taking over as COS, the Admiral was FOGNA. He has earned commendations from CNS and Commissioner of Police of Mauritius and an Honourable Mention at NWC, USA. The Admiral has been awarded Nau Sena Medal in 2017 and AVSM in 2023 by Hon'ble President of India. The outgoing COS, ENC, VAdm Sanjay Vatsayan will take over as Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations), Headquarters Integrated Defence Services at New Delhi.
