Italian Navy Ship ,Morosini, di Revel-class Offshore Patrol Vessel visited Mumbai

Italian Navy Ship, Morosini, di Revel-class Offshore Patrol Vessel visited Mumbai from 10 to 14 Aug 2023. The recently commissioned ship was received at Mumbai by Indian Navy personnel with Navy band in attendance and Italian consular staff. During her stay in harbour, cross deck visits by Italian and Indian Navy personnel were undertaken for sharing best practices. Coinciding with this visit, Mr. Vincenzo de Luca, Ambassador of Italy to India and VAdm Andrea Gueglio, Director of Military Personnel, Italian Navy also visited Mumbai to participate in Maritime Security Seminar organised by Italian Embassy in association with National Maritime Foundation. A reception was also hosted by WNC on 12 Aug 2023 in honour of the visiting ship and seminar delegates. The Ambassador and the Italian Admiral, accompanied by Captain Fabio Cima, Defence Attaché at Italian Embassy and Commander Giovanni Monno, Commanding Officer, ITS Morosini, called on VAdm Sanjay Bhalla, COS, WNC. During the interaction, subjects of common interest like Piracy, HADR, Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, Information Sharing and other issues related to maritime security were discussed. This visit by an Italian Navy Warship to India took place after many years. Italy and India are endeavouring to increase cooperation in various fields such as defence technology, maritime security and space. This visit is expected to renew and further the strategic partnership between the two nations that share similar concerns in the maritime domain.
