The maiden Meteorology Specialisation Course (Long Course) for Education Officers of Indian Navy commenced at School of Naval Oceanology and Meteorology SNOM, Kochi on 11 Sep 2023. The inauguration function was presided over by Chief Guest, RAdm Upal Kundu, CSO(Training), SNC. The event assumes significance as the erstwhile Advanced Met Training Course was conducted by Training Division of Indian Meteorological Department. However, commencing this year, SNOM would be conducting this course utilizing the expertise available with Indian Navy in collaboration with Cochin University of Science and Technology CUSAT. The trainee officers would be trained on various aspects of Meteorology and Oceanology with special emphasis on Naval operational utility. On this occasion, a new lecture cum seminar hall 'Knowledge Gyre' was also inaugurated by PA Jayakrishnan, Ex POA (Met) in presence of Chief Guest.
