The 38th International Coastal Cleanup Day and Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan were conjointly celebrated by the ENC on 16 Sep 2023 at Visakhapatnam. On this occasion, Units in Visakhapatnam undertook a Coastal Cleanup Drive at Yarada, RK and Kalinga beaches and all sea/waterfronts. Approximately, 1000 Naval and DSC personnel including their family members participated in the event. The event aimed to create awareness among the local populace to keep beaches clean, safeguard the environment and inculcate the habit of respecting coastal lines which in turn nurtures marine bio-diversity. The coastal cleanup drive has gained importance in Visakhapatnam over the last few years primarily due to infrastructural development and exponential rise in the field of industrialization, which has directly affected the environment and surroundings. ENC has been playing an active role by undertaking various environmental initiatives towards the preservation of the environment, especially the coastlines/ waterfronts.
