The 38th Annual Conference of the Marine Medical Society, themed 'Medical Challenges in Naval and Military Operations' was inaugurated on 14 Oct 2023 by VAdm Dinesh K Tripathi, FOCINC WNC at Mumbai. In his inaugural address, CINC highlighted that as a Large Navy, IndianNavy units are ‘mission-deployed’ across IOR and beyond to further India’s maritime interests; and medical personnel with Telemedicine facility play a vital role to ensure unhindered naval operations. The conference provides a platform for medical professionals to exchange ideas on advances in medical sciences to promote, protect, and maintain safety of life at sea. The two-day conference, conducted in a hybrid mode, was attended by Surg VAdm Arti Sarin, DGMS (Navy) and President of the Society, veterans, and over 400 delegates from Armed Forces Medical Services Friendly Foreign Countries. VAdm Biswajit Dasgupta (Retd), former FOCINC ENC delivered the CNS oration on 'Leveraging Medical Services to enhance Indian Navy's Objectives and Operational Effectiveness' and Surg RAdm CS Naidu (Retd), delivered the keynote address on 'The Ship's Doctor of the Future’.
