Major fire was reported at a dump yard near Masjid

On 27 October 2023, at about 1120 h, a major fire was reported at a dump yard near Masjid on Bori-Uran Road about 2 km from Naval Station Karanja. In response, the Fire Headquarters team from INS Tunir, in close coordination with civil agencies, swiftly deployed to address the emergency alongwith QRT, Rapid Response Team and 20 Defence Service Corps Jawans. Concurrently, Fire Tenders from NAD were also mobilised to provide support and an ambulance was kept standby for providing medical aid. The operation was co-ordinated by Chief Fire Officer, Naval Station Karanja with officers from INS Tunir at the site of fire. The Fire Tenders from Naval Station were turned around 15 times for fighting the fire and boundary cooling to avoid spread of fire to neighbouring locality. The fire fighting and rescue operations including crowd control were undertaken in close coordination with CIDCO and JNPT fire departments. The fire was finally brought under control by 1500 h. The Station Fire Organisation provided strategic direction and coordinated the efforts of all teams involved and ensured a well-organised response to fire incident.
