The second edition of the State Level Biannual Coastal Security Exercise SagarKavach for the state of Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep Group of Islands, including Karnataka, will be conducted from 16 to 17 Nov 2023. The two-day exercise involving all maritime security agencies is being conducted under the aegis of FOCINC, SNC who also exercises the authority of Commander-in-Chief, Coastal Defence (South). The exercise is aimed to assess the efficacy and robustness of the coastal security mechanism while dealing with an asymmetric threat emanating from the sea. Coastal security apparatus including ships, patrol crafts and aircraft of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and other coastal security agencies would be deployed in the area. Enhanced security measures and extensive surveillance would be maintained throughout the duration of exercise. Real time threats and multitude of contingencies assessing preparedness level of agencies would be simulated. The exercise would be closely monitored from JOC(Kochi) which is the nodal hub for all coastal security operations and exercises in the area of operations.
