'Nippon Kaili Kyokai' known as Class NK is the largest ship Classification Society and one of the eminent members of IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) which engages in multiple facets of marine industry such as design, construction, maintenance, pollution control and efficient shipping. In 2006, Class NK constituted best project awards for BTech students of Department of Ship Technology, CUSAT to nurture and promote innovative ship designs. Slt Praveen PS of the Indian Navy won the third prize (design of Luxury Cruise vessel capable of accommodating 450 passengers) for the academic year 2022-23. The officer was part of the 33rd Naval Architecture Course and completed four-year B Tech course at CUSAT (Cochin University of Science and Technology) while undergoing Naval training at Naval Construction Wing, CELABS Kochi.
