SNC would celebrate Navy Day 23 with citizens of Kochi showcasing capability and versatility of Indian Navy in an Operational Demonstration (Op Demo) on 04 Dec 2023. The Op Demo will showcase various facets of Naval operations by Indian Navy ships, aircraft and the special forces in Ernakulam Channel off Rajendra Maidan. The event hosted by SNC will be witnessed by senior Govt functionaries, military dignitaries and local populace of Kochi. Indian Navy celebrates Navy Day on 04 Dec every year to commemorate the devastating attack on Karachi harbour on the night of 04 Dec 1971 during Indo Pak war. Missile boats of Indian Navy supported by other Naval ships undertook this daring attack and destroyed a number of Pakistan Navy ships and decimated the fuel reserves and ammunition stocks stored in Karachi harbour. Op Demo is being organised to commemorate the victory of Indian Navy. Op Demo off Rajendra Maidan will commence at 1600h on 04 Dec 23. A series of Naval operations and capabilities of Naval assets would be demonstrated during the event. Other attractions include watermanship skills, sail ship display, continuity drill and hornpipe dance by SCC. The event will culminate with a beating retreat by Indian Naval band and traditional sunset ceremony with illumination of Naval ships.
