Exercise Prasthan, aimed to evaluate contingency measures for offshore development area off Mumbai was held on 08 Dec 2023. The exercise was conducted under aegis of WNC with active participation of IAF, ICG, ONGC, Petroleum Ministry and several Central and State agencies. Various measures and procedures to counter security threats as well as other contingencies that may arise in oil production platforms were exercised. These included attack by terrorist, bomb threat, fire on oil platform, medical evacuation of platform crew etc. The exercise witnessed deployment of several ships and aircraft of Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, ONGC, DG (Shipping), as also personnel from Maharashtra Police, Customs, Fisheries, Mumbai and JN Port Authorities and India met dept among others.
