Armed Forces who made the supreme sacrifice during various operations in the 1971 war. A floral wreath was laid at the 'Victory at Sea' War Memorial by VAdm G Srinivasan, DGNP, Visakhapatnam. Wreaths were also laid by Veteran and Civil Dignitaries. A 50-men Guard was paraded at the venue and a two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to valiant souls. The Nation celebrates Vijay Diwas on 16 Dec every year to commemorate the historic victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war. On this momentous day, the world witnessed the unconditional surrender of regular Pakistani troops to tri-service theatre Commanders of Indian Armed Forces in Dhaka, resulting in the liberation of Bangladesh.
