Indian Navy participated in the inaugural MSME DefenceExpo hosted by Maharashtra Govt at Pune from 24 - 26 Feb 2024. The Navy pavilion showcased the rapid strides by the Indian Navy at inducting cutting edge indigenous technology as also opportunities for developing indigenous substitutes to imported items currently being used in the Navy, in pursuance of Make in India initiative of GoI. Navy pavilion drew huge crowds of over 8,000 visitors daily including several dignitaries. Maharashtra Deputy CM, who visited the pavilion, lauded the Navy’s concerted drive towards indigenisation. In keynote address at Expo, Admiral R Hari Kumar, CNS, emphasised that self-reliance in defence is a strategic imperative for the nation and Navy has committed to achieving Aatmanir bharta by 2047. The Navy pavilion also showcased the evolution of modern Indian Navy from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Maratha Navy. Navy officials also delivered talks on Indian maritime history, Navy’s indigenisation needs, and recruitment opportunities in the Navy at the Expo.
