French Navy Ship Marne is on a Goodwill visit to Mumbai

French Navy Ship Marne is on a goodwill visit to Mumbai from 21 - 28 January 2023. The ship is under command of Cdr Pierre-Alban Pancrazi and is part of Carrier Strike Group CSG of French nuclear-propelled aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle (CDG). While CDG and other ships of CSG, French Naval Ships Forbin and Provence, are berthed at Goa, fleet tanker Marne is anchored off Mumbai. At Mumbai, Cdr Pancrazi called on Vice Adm Krishna Swaminathan, COS, WNC and discussed subjects of mutual interest. During ship’s stay at port, crew visited various places of interest. Over decades, defence engagement between India and France has grown significantly. The current CSG visit to Mumbai and Goa provided excellent training value and enhanced interoperability in maritime domain. With common interest in bolstering regional peace and stability, the two navies remain committed to working together.
