An incident of major fire over Cochin Port Authority land near IMU at Wellingdon Island was reported by Cochin Port Authority at 1945h on 03 April 2023. On request of assistance by Port Authority, SNC immediately pressed its Naval fire-fighting services into action. Naval fire tenders were rushed to site and augmented fire fighting efforts of Port authorities. The extent of fire which spread over more than 300m of area with high rising flames was localised with continuous operations by Naval fire tenders. After, nearly two hours of fire fighting operations, fire was completely brought under control.
