Indian Navy Maritime Awareness Car Expedition 'Sam No Varuna' commenced its third leg from INS Kattabomman near Tirunelveli on 04 April 2023.The car rally was flagged off by Commodore Nishant Kumar, Commanding Officer INS Kattabomman. SNC team led by Cmde Malay Kukreti comprises 38 participants from serving officers (including women officers), sailors, Agniveers, veterans and members from NWWA community. The team would be covering a distance of over 1250 km before reaching Goa on 08 April 2023. The expedition team passing through three coastal states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka would undertake outreach programme in various schools, educational institutes, old age homes and orphanages keeping with ethos of community development and empowerment. Besides this, coastal clean ship of beaches, awareness campaigns and interaction with students, senior citizens and veterans are also planned enroute. The team will pay tribute to brave hearts at INS Chapal museum at Karwar. Whilst car rally endeavours to showcase diverse culture, traditions and maritime history of regions enroute, it aims to promote awareness, career opportunities and achievements of Indian Navy amongst masses.
