Award Of Vice Admiral GM Hiranandani Rolling Trophy

A rolling trophy in memory of Late Vice Admiral GM Hiranandani is awarded to Best Long Course Officer of IndianNavy every year for standing first in the overall order of merit in Warfare Specialisation course. Lt Cdr Aby Mathew was awarded coveted trophy for the year 2023. Book prizes were awarded to Lt Cdr Suyash Malviya and Lt Cdr Anmol Bhatia for second and third position respectively. Rear Admiral Upal Kundu, CSO(Training), SNC was Chief Guest for award ceremony held at Maritime Warfare Centre Kochi on 06 April 2023. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest emphasised the role of specialist officers onboard ships and the need to perform as thorough professionals and develop habit of in-depth analysis of situations at sea. The trophy was instituted in year 2013 in memory of Late Vice Admiral GM Hiranandani, who was FOCINC, SNC from 1985 to 1987 and retired as VCNS in 1989. As official historian of Indian Navy, he has chronicled Indian Navy's history in three acclaimed volumes - Transition to Triumph, Transition to Eminence and Transition to Guardianship. The family of Late Vice Admiral GM Hiranandani were also present for award ceremony.
