“Sam No Varunah” Car Rally Commences Its Fourth Leg From Goa To Bhuj

Indian Navy's Maritime Awareness Car Expedition, Sam No Varunah commenced its fourth leg from Goa on 09 April 2023. The rally was flagged off by Rear Admiral Vikram Menon, FOGA. WNC team led by Commodore Anirudh Roy comprises 43 participants from among serving officers (including women officers), sailors and veterans. Members of NWWA, led by Mrs. Shashi Tripathi, President NWWA (WR), are also part of the expedition. The team will cover a distance of over 3000 kms to reach Bhuj on 19 April 2023. Passing through coastal states of Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat, the expedition team will reach out to various schools, educational institutions, old age homes and orphanages to contribute to community development and empowerment. Coastal cleanup of beaches, awareness campaigns about Navy and interactions with students, NCC cadets, senior citizens and veterans are also planned enroute. The team will pay tribute to bravehearts at Angre War Memorial at Alibag and Khukri Memorial at Diu. The team undertook beach cleanup at Bogmalo and interacted with Old Age Home at Assagao, Mapusa before making a night halt near Jaigad. The main objective of car rally is to promote awareness about Indian Navy and career opportunities and achievements among masses. The rally also aims to showcase diverse culture, traditions and rich maritime history of regions enroute.
