Early Intervention Centre (EIC), CHETNA under the aegis of NWWA(NR) celebrated Siblings Day

Early Intervention Centre (EIC), CHETNA under the aegis of NWWA(NR) celebrated Siblings Day on 29 April 2023.

The focus of the event was to recognise the efforts of siblings of children with disabilities, as well as to promote 'Diversity and Inclusion' within the community. 90 children participated in the event including students from NCS , their student council members and other children from the Tri Services.

The event included talks by Psychologist, Mrs. Divya Nair and the Occupational Therapist Ms Harsheka Kar. They discussed the do’s and don’t towards promoting inclusion and outlined the ways on how the siblings could empower themselves to be supportive siblings. It was an interactive session with enthusiastic responses from the audience.

The activity coordinator conducted a fun filled game for the children and avideo by Risshan Patil, an Autistic teen who uses the social media to spread the message about Autism was also screened at the event.

The EIC CHETNA Team at Delhi intends to follow up with smaller workshops to specifically address some of the concerns that were raised by the siblings at this event.
